The school was started in the year 1974 with only one class i.e., lower K.G. as a K.L.E. Society’s English Medium School. Initially it was located in the old boys hostel of B.V. Bhoomaraddi college of Engineering and Technology and it continued to function there from 1974 to 1990. The founder chairman of the school was Late Sri. R.G. Wali who was a director of the K.L.E. society at that time.

The school was shifted to the existing new building in the year 1991 and at that time the school was renamed as K.L.E. Society’s, M.R. Sakhare English Medium School. Sri Sakhare was one of the founder members and “Saptareshis” of the K.L.E. Society. Sri Sakhare was himself a teacher having done M.A. from Bombay University and teachers’ Diploma from England during those days. The school was renamed after him in memory of the great and valuable service rendered by him towards the K.L.E. Society and the educational field.
