Sainik School, Bhubaneswar is one of those schools of the city, which makes everyone take its name with pride and honour. The school was initiated by the then Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Biju Patnaik in 1962 in a government shed until the new building was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964. The school emits the aura of discipline, bravery and passion. It has been maintaining its tradition of winning several awards in numerous fields of academics as well as co-curricular activities. The all-boys school primarily aims at preparing the students in academics, physical training, mental ability and intellectual intelligence for their entry into the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and other such examinations. The school is looked after by a three-tier system of management by Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, the Local Board of Administration and the school staff.
